Our Team

The first nine years of John’s work-life were in town management, since 1980 he has been a Real Estate Broker in VT & NH. John graduated from Hartford High School in 1967, and the University of Vermont in 1971. In addition to many years of Real Estate and Insurance continuing education, John has earned his G.R.I., a Legal and Paralegal studies graduate certificate (2004), and a graduate certificate in Applied Conflict Studies (2006). He is also a Dale Carnegy graduate.

Since 1980 he has been a Real Estate Associate, Broker, Sales Manager and Broker/Owner of four different agencies. John partnered with his brother Bill in including insurance brokerage services to the Clerkin Agency from 1997 to 2015. Over the years he has been blessed to work with a multitude of Associates.

John has been married to Pat Clerkin since 1970. Pat served as a Real Estate Associate and Administrator in our office for well over 30 years. She also served as president of the Windsor County Board. She recently retired, but continues to assist with administrative matters when needed. Together they have three daughters, three sons-in-law, five granddaughters and three grandsons. They currently live in White River Junction.

John has served as president of the Windsor County Board of Realtors & a member of the Upper Valley Board of Realtors, past president and director of the Upper Valley MLS system (now Prime MLS), and was Realtor of the Year in 1986.

In addition to professional service, John has served as a Hartford Selectman, Justice of the Peace, Grand juror, Agent to Prosecute & Defend suits and from 2007-2010, was elected and served in the State of Vermont House of Representatives, (CommerceCommittee), and served as the Town Treasurer of Hartford, VT. He is currently the Principal Broker for the Clerkin Agency PC and remains active in the business that he loves.

Bill has over 40 years of Vermont real estate experience representing buyers and sellers. He is a lifelong native of Hartford and is a well-known and revered member of the community. His volunteer work within the community is unparalleled. To appreciate the level of Bill’s dedication and volunteerism, recently he was the recipient of the 2023 Theresa S. Brungardt-Friend Award, which is the highest honor bestowed by the Vermont Recreation & Parks Association. Because he is such a vital member of the community, he has gained a deep understanding of the local property market which he shares with his clients.

Bill has exceptional skills in communicating with his clients in all aspects of real estate transactions from straightforward to complex. His breadth of experience provides a base of knowledge to guide and educate his clients. He also understands the emotional toll that buying or selling a property can exact upon individuals and their families, and is always ready to lend his support.

Bill has had a lifelong passion for sports, basketball in particular. He has always been well known on the court, and as a teen was given the nickname “Downtown” by one of his coaches. In his free time he is a regular volunteer for school and community activities and he is an active mountain biker. It would be no surprise to meet him on the local trails with his dog “Charlie Brown”.

Bill and his wife Joann have two grown children and two grandchildren.

Alex is a lifelong resident of Hartford, VT and Lebanon, NH. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Vermont, and a licensed Sales Associate in Vermont & New Hampshire. He has over 30 years of experience in business ownership , buying and selling residential and commercial real estate , marketing products and customer service. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Vermont Association of Realtors, the Windsor County Board of Realtors, and the Upper Valley Board of Realtors. He takes pride in his own professionalism of integrity, service and attention to detail always coming first, and in that, his Clients always come first.

Alex takes the time to listen to his clients’ needs and desires, studies the real estate market when buying or selling their real estate, and uses all the resources available, including his vast experience in sales to help his clients achieve their real estate goals.

Alex has been married to his wife Candice for over 30 years, and together they have four children. Their amazing kids are; daughter Olivia and sons AJ, Jake & Ozzy who all attended Hartford schools. He and Candice could not be prouder of them; Olivia attended Saint Michael’s College and just completed her second year teaching at Dothan Brook School here in town, AJ recently graduated from Columbia University, Jake carries a full course-load at Community College of Vermont and is also employed, and Ozzy plays ice hockey and was just added to the juniors roster for the NH Avalanche.

Alex is a lifelong sports fan, with Ice Hockey being at the top of the list. His heart belongs to the Boston Bruins, through thick and thin. He has been a level-four ice hockey coach for over 20 years, and has spent thousands of hours volunteering his time coaching youth ice hockey. He has also volunteered his time coaching many other youth sports.

Candice has been a licensed Real Estate Associate~Vermont at the Clerkin Agency PC since 2018. Her primary role at the Clerkin Agency is office manager, but is also a competent sales professional. Her favorite thing about working at Clerkin Agency is meeting new people, reconnecting with former clients, and her colleagues, who are wonderful people who truly care about the work that they do.

Candice married her husband Alex in 1990, and they settled in Hartford to raise a family. Together they have four children, Olivia, AJ, Jake and Ozzy, who all attended Hartford Schools. Olivia also attended Saint Michael’s College and just completed her second year of teaching 4th grade at Dothan Brook School here in town, AJ recently graduated from Columbia University, Jake is a full-time student at Community College of Vermont and is also employed, and Ozzy plays ice hockey, and was just added to the juniors roster for the NH Avalanche. Candice’s children are her pride and joy, and she and Alex are immensely proud of them.

Candice grew up in both Hartland & Hartford, attended Hartland Elementary School, and graduated from Hartford High School in 1985. Previous to the Clerkin Agency, she worked for the Hartford School District for many years, and prior to that she was a stay-at-home-mom, and feels fortunate that she was able to do that. She has been reupholstering furniture for years and is an accomplished seamstress. She has volunteered her time to sew costumes for both the Hartford Memorial Middle School and Hartford High School musicals for many years. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family & friends, cooking, gardening, photography, sewing, traveling, Maine, ice hockey, and the occasional home renovation project.

She and her family live here in Hartford with their two rescue dogs Blue & Bella.

Dot is an Upper Valley native and currently lives in West Lebanon with her husband, Mike. She has two grown children, Amanda and Cody, who also live here in the Upper Valley. She is a very involved grandparent who has 6 granddaughters that she loves to spend time with; Paeton, Aubree, Lilly, Harper, Hazel, & Katherine!

Dot has been with The Clerkin Agency PC for 9 years and in the real estate profession for nearly 20 years. She is licensed in both Vermont and New Hampshire. She truly enjoys meeting new people and becoming an essential part of the journey to meet their real estate goals.

Dot grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford High School in 1985. When not working in real estate Dot enjoys spending time with her family, attending her granddaughters’ school activities & sporting events, trips to Maine, and traveling.

 Lisa has been assisting BUYERS and SELLERS in the Upper Valley since 2001. She is committed to helping her real estate clients navigate the buying and selling process.

Lisa is also dedicated to her community. She currently serves as Hartford Town Clerk; was a past member of the White River Rotary;  the Hartford Parks & Recreation and Hartford Planning Commission.

She is also a former member of the Vermont House of Representatives, where she served for two terms in the 1990's; she was also Executive Director of the former White River Chamber of Commerce; and was active with Windsor County Partners. She continues to volunteer in her community as time permits.

She is a Hartford High School graduate and earned a BA in Political Science from Hofstra University in New York. She currently lives in Hartford with her family.
